Arctic has announced two new CPU cooler aimed to be used with AMD's socket AM1 and replace the noisy stock CPU cooler, the Alpine M1 and Alpine M1-Passive.
Designed to offer maximum performance on a budget, due to the fact that these are aimed to be used with AMD AM1 socket, both the Alpine M1 and Alpine M1-Passive come with pre-applied MX-2 thermal compound and should keep the AM1 CPU cooled much better than the stock CPU cooler.
The Alpine M1 features a slim aluminum heatsink paired up with an 80mm low speed fan, making it twice as quiet compared to the stock AM1 CPU cooler. According to Arctic, while the stock cooler, spinning at 4000 RPM, keeps the Athlon 5350 at 46 degrees while producing 0.4 Sone of noise, the Alpine M1 can keep it at that same temperature while spinning at 750 RPM and producing 0.05 Sone of noise.
The Alpine M1-Passive, as the name suggests, features a much taller heatsink with high passive cooling performance and allows users to make a completely fan-less system. The cooling capacity of the Alpine M1-Passive is at 40W.
Both new socket AM1 CPU coolers from Arctic should be available on retail/e-tail shelves soon with a price set at €11.95 for the Alpine M1 and €12.95 for the Alpine M1-Passive.
