While it did not want to talk about a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 game before it was officially announced, Rockstar revealed a lot of details in its new interview with PC Gamer, suggesting that the game was planned from day one.
More than a year and a half after its original release on consoles, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to PC and will include a lot of new features, impressive graphics details, 4K resolution support and much more. In an interview with PC gamer, Rockstar North staff members confirmed that the PC version was planned from day one.
“We were always going to bring GTA 5 to PC. We planned from day one for a PC build and we made technical decisions based off the fact that we would be doing a PC version of the game." Rockstar staff members also noted that the development of the PC version was started quite early although main focus was to launch the game on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and then focus on next-gen consoles, which helped the team to bring it to PC and make it "look and feel better than it ever has."
This also allowed the team to see the game scale to 4K at 60fps resolution, which is something beyond anything they experienced as developers. What was most is important is to retain the ability to scale the performance for the PC game so gamers with different hardware platforms can benefit from that as well.
The interview also includes plenty of other details regarding the PC version, which will unlock for those that pre-downloaded it on Monday, April 13 at 4pm PDT/7pm EDT for the US and April 14th at 12am for the UK gamers.
