Apple is apparently working on a new 12-inch Macbook Air Retina that should be launched in Q2 2015.
According to
a fresh report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple is gearing up to launch its new Macbook Air which will be equipped with a Retina-class display. According to the same report, Apple might even give a preview of it during its event scheduled for next week, where the company is expected to talk a bit more about its Apple Watch.
The Wall Street Journal reports that manufacturers have received orders from Apple to gear up for the mass production of the new Macbook Air. Currently, Macbook Air is available in two versions, 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch with 1366x768 and 1440x900 resolutions. According to the report, the new 12-inch one could end up with a 1920x1080 or even 2560x1440 screen, which should add up to a rather impressive pixel density.
In general, higher resolution screens draw much more battery juice and it is something that Apple is certainly having trouble with but Apple might also include Intel's new 14nm Broadwell CPUs, which should generally help with both performance as well as the battery life.
