The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game with rating M, or Mature.
While this will not come as a surprise for those that played earlier The Witcher games,
the ESRB described it as the game which includes "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Alcohol."
It also goes on saying that the game includes "large blood-splatter effects occur when enemies are slashed, with some attacks resulting in decapitation or dismemberment," as well as a game that has slow-motion decapitations and other gore," with scenes that "depict females' breasts and buttocks—sexual moaning sounds can be heard," all ending out with a rating M, making it unsuitable for kids under 17 years of age.
While this does not come as a surprise, we are still wondering if the ESRB rating is a bit harsh as it is not something that kids can see on TV every day.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 19th, 2015.
