Steam hits 125 million active accounts

With 4500 games

Valve has announced that Steam has reached a new record of over 125 million active users with the new concurrent number of users reaching a new record of 8.9 million.

Valve's Steam has probably become the most important internet-based digital distribution, digital rights management (DRM), multiplayer, and social networking gaming platform and it does not come as a surprise that it has managed to reach a new record of over 125 million active users. With over 4500 games in library and over 400 million pieces of user-generated content, Steam is definitely an important part of any gaming system.

While Valve was not specific regarding what does "active users" actually mean, it did note that it also managed to reach a new record of 8.9 million concurrent users, which is quite an impressive number.

Valve will have some big announcements at the upcoming Game Developers Conference 2015, including the VR Headset, the final design of the Steam Controller and new Steam Machines, and that same GDC 2015 will also mark the 13th anniversary of the first public announcement of Steam.
