Biostar has announced two new gaming motherboards based on Intel's Z97 Express chipset and LGA1150 socket, the flagship GAMING Z97X and the slightly cut-down version of it, the GAMING Z97W.
The new GAMING Z97X motherboard from Biostar focuses on connectivity, with a bit of overclocking features as well as a rather extensive feature list. Based on a brown/black color scheme design, the Biostar GAMING Z97X should appeal to those looking to make a high-end custom system as well.
Based on a standard ATX form-factor, the Biostar GAMING Z97X features a 12-phase CPU VRM powered by a 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors, has three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16 or x8/x8 or x8/x4/x4), three PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slot, SATA Express, six SATA 6Gbps and M.2 (PCIe 2.0 x2) slot, couple of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, including USB 3.1 10Gbps port, two Gigabit Ethernet ports based on Intel's and Qualcomm Killer E2200 chips, as well as a gaming oriented integrated audio with a 110dBA SNR codec, a 600 Ohms headphones amp and ground layer isolation.
What makes the Biostar GAMING Z97X stand out is the bundled 5.25-inch "Gaming Commander" unit which provides front-panel audio outputs with volume control, amplifier control, diagnostic LEDs and shows the CPU temperature.
In addition to the GAMING Z97X motherboard, Biostar has also launched a cut-down version which has a 10-phase CPU VRM, only two PCI-Express x16 slots and lacks some other features.
Unfortunately, Biostar did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability date for new GAMING series Z97X and Z97W motherboards.
