Android 5.0 Lollipop is on just 1.6% of devices

Since its launch

Google is definitely having trouble with pushing other manufacturers to update their devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is now running on just 1.6 percent of devices since it launched.

Although the new Android 5.0 Lollipop has been launched last year and promised quite a few important fixes and performance improvements, including support for 64-bit SoCs, it appears that smartphone manufacturers are having tough time to update their devices to the new Android OS as, currently, only 1.6 percent of Android devices are running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Android 4.1.x-4.3 Jelly Bean OS is still on top with 44.5 percent of Android devices while Android 4.4 KitKat is still on 39.7 percent of devices. The good part of the story is that Android 2.3.3-2.3.7 Gingerbread OS has dropped significantly down to 7.4 percent, but it is still more than what Android 5.0 Lollipop holds.

Hopefully, smartphone manufacturers will kick it to higher gear soon and some of the last year flagships will be finally getting a taste of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
