During the investor conference call which was held after AMD has announced its fourth quarter and full year financial results, AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, revealed more details regarding AMD's plans for new products, including Carrizo APUs and the new GPUs.
While it was generally expected that AMD's next-generation Carrizo APUs will launch in the second half of the year, it appears that AMD has pushed its plans a bit forward and is on schedule to launch Carrizo APUs in Q2 2015. The Carrizo APUs will feature Excavator CPUs paired up with GPU based on Graphics Core Next 1.2 architecture, same one we have seen on AMD's Tonga based graphics cards.
AMD also plans to release its Opteron Seattle enterprise CPUs around that same time, which feature eight ARM Cortex A57 64-bit cores.
What is more important is that Lisa Su revealed quite a few details regarding AMD's upcoming GPU plans, with Radeon Rx 300 series GPUs which are also scheduled for Q2 2015. According to known what Lisa Su revealed during the investor conference call, AMD will launch its performance-segment Radeon R9 380 graphics card in Q2 2015, which will feature 4096 GCN 1.2 cores as well as feature 4GB of stacked High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM). When it comes to mid-range offer, the new Trinidad GPU should replace Curacao and offer competitive performance at US $200 price-point.
While these details pretty much only confirm earlier rumors, it is good to know that AMD is at least pulling its plans forward and that we will see plenty of new products in Q2 2015.
