PNY shows new SSDs at CES 2015

The CS1111 and CS2111

The CES 2015 show in Las Vegas, which took place last week, had no lack of new solid-state drives and PNY unveiled two new models, the CS1111 and CS2111, one aimed at general public and the other for gamers.

While many performance SSDs were showcased at CES 2015, some were a bit more affordable, which is the case with PNY and its CS1111 and CS2111 SSDs. Both of them are based on a 2.5-inch 7 mm thick form-factor and feature SATA III interface.

The new PNY CS1111 replaces the Optima in the entry level range and it will be available in capacities of 120 GB, 240GB, and 480GGB. It is equipped with MLC NAND and while the used controller is not yet known, the CS1111 will have a sequential read and write performance of up to 500MB/s and 300MB/s with 4K random read and write performance at up to 75k/60k IOPS.

The CS2111 is a part of PNY's XLR8 series aimed at gamers. It will be available in the same form-factor and available in same capacities, the CS2111 will also be equipped with MLC NAND. The controller on the CS2111 is not known either, but the sequential read and write performance will be at up to 560MB/s and 350MB/s with random 4K performance at up to 95k/75k IOPS.

Unfortunately, the prices and precise availability date have not yet been announced.
