Dell has brought a rather interesting new XPS 13 notebook to Consumer Electronics Show 2015 which is currently underway in Las Vegas, and while last year model was quite impressive, the new has a much better "infinity" display with a incredibly thin bezel.
While previous XPS 13 systems already had a rather narrow bezel, Dell has outdone itself with the latest XPS 13, which is not only available with an optional 3200x1800 resolution panel but also has a 5.2mm bezel all around it. The new 2015 Edition XPS 13 still uses machined aluminum and carbon fiber to keep weight at impressive levels at just under 1.3kg and is, according to Dell, the "smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet," mostly thanks to its slim bezel which allowed Dell to squeeze a 13.3-inch screen on a 11-inch size notebook.
The size apparently did not have any effect on the keyboard as you still get a full size backlit chiclet keyboard and a new improved trackpad with glass button and precision trackpad, which allows Windows 8.1 to directly control the pointer, multi-touch and gesture support for better and smoother scrolling, zooming and panning.
Dell will offer the new XPS 13 with plenty of different configuration choices ranging from the base Core i3 Broadwell version with 4GB of RAM and 1080p screen for US $799, all the way up to a Core i7 version with Sharp IGZO panel, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage for US $1,899. Dell has also promised rather impressive 15 hours of battery life on a single charge which is quite impressive, while the rest of the features include 802.11ac Wi Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports and a Mini DisplayPort output.
Both the new Dell XPS 13 and the new XPS 15 are already available at Dell's site and should hit all major retailers/e-tailers soon.
