ASRock has unveiled its latest workstation class motherboard based on Intel's X99 Express chipset that will actually feature dual Intel X540 10GBase-T Ethernet, additional dual Gigabit Ethernet and all the usual features and specifications expected on a workstation motherboard based on Intel's X99 Express chipset, the ASRock X99 WS-E/10G.
ASRock's new X99 WS-E/10G motherboard uses Intel's X540-BT2 chip in order to provide dual 10GBase-T ports as well as features Intel I210-AT chip providing to Gigabit Ethernet ports, for a total of four. All four can be used at the same time in order to speed up local networking.
It also comes with two PLX 9747 chips that allow the use of four (out of seven) PCI-Express 3.0 slots at x16/x16/x16/x16 mode or all seven at x16/x8/x8/x8/x8/x8/x8, while extra power is supplied via Molex ports near the PCI-Express slots.
The rest of the features and specifications include twelve SATA 6Gbps ports, SATA Express 10Gbps, single M.2 Gen2 x4 slot, SATA DOM and USB DOM ports, as well as support for Intel's LGA 2011-3 CPUs and eight DDR4 memory slots with support for up to 128GB of UDIMM/RDIMM memory.
While it certainly looks quite impressive, we are quite sure that it will not be cheap. Unfortunately, ASRock did not yet reveal any details regarding the price or the actual release date for the new motherboard.
