Virtual reality is currently one of the biggest novelties in the world and China is definitely not going to pass it as the Jingweidu Technology has a project named Three Glasses, which might be really interesting.

The virtual reality helmet from Jingweidu Technology, called the Three Glasses, is very similar to the Oculus Rift. For the Chinese copying is not a bad thing, but rather a mark of respect for a good product.

Three Glasses uses lenses behind which hide a display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution with a 60 Hz refresh rate and offering a 124° field of view, all at 280g of weight. This makes the Three Glasses a lighter product and offering a greater viewing angle when compared to the Rift, but a lower resolution.

In front of the craze for the project and thanks to successful funding, the next version should get a 2560 x 1440 screen and new lenses. In the meantime, the D1 Developer Edition is available for 1999 Yuan (283€) for pre-order with delivery scheduled for December. With a bit of luck China might be the first to launch a finished product.
