Gigabyte has now officially announced its new Geforce GTX 980 WaterForce Tri-SLI setup, which includes no less than three Geforce GTX 980 graphics cards cooled by a liquid cooling system aimed to be placed on top of your case.
Showcased to
the public back in April this year, the WaterForce cooler is a closed liquid cooling loop packed in a rather large external unit designed to fit on top of the case and which includes reservoirs, a large radiator with multiple fans, pumps and ports for coolant tubes for those three Geforce GTX 980 graphics cards which are connected via 5.26-inch hub. The external unit also has a display where you can monitor the coolant temperature as well as fine tune all the details regarding the liquid cooling.
The water block on each GTX 980 graphics card is based on a full cover design so it will cool the GPU, memory as well as the VRM part of the graphics card.
Each of the three Geforce GTX 980 graphics cards in the new Gigabyte GTX 980 WaterForce Tri-SLI setup, model GV-N980X3WA-4GD, is actually factory-overclocked to 1228MHz GPU base clock, 1329MHz GPU Boost clock while 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface ended up clocked at 7.0GHz. The power requirement, according to Gigabyte, is set a 1200W, with six 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors.
Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not announce any details regarding the availability or the price, but we guess that bundling three GTX 980 graphics card with a closed loop liquid cooling system will have a hefty price tag.
