Firefox celebrates its 10th anniversary

Fresh update and new stuff

In order to celebrate 10 years of its browser, the Mozilla Foundation unveiled a series of novelties as well as some details regarding its upcoming projects.

Ten years have passed since the Mozilla Foundation released the first version of its free web browser, the Firefox. Today, that same browser has been updated to version 33.1 in order to celebrate its birthday.

The new version comes with a new secure search engine, DuckDuckGo, a simpler system to erase its traces, Forget, and an emphasis on confidentiality.

The new update is also accompanied by the release of Firefox DevEdition, the browser dedicated to developers that we were talking about last week and the release of Firefox OS 2.0 made available to developers for use on compatible Flame smartphones.

Ten years of work in order to make the web a bit more open, Mozilla Foundation has also announced that its work is not yet finished and that more projects are coming that will make the web a better place for users.
