MSI shows R9 290X Gaming with 8GB of memory

For UHD monitor

As AMD has given a green light for 8GB version of the R9 290X graphics card, MSI has now officially announced the new R9 290X Gaming 8GB. The new R9 290X Gaming offers a double amount of video memory which is ideal for gaming on higher resolutions, such as 4K/UHD.

The 8GB version of the R9 290X should be quite similar to the original R9 290X Gaming earlier released by MSI. The new graphics card also features the famous Twin Frozr IV Advanced cooler with a solid cooper baseplate, aluminum fins and two silent fans. In addition, every chip on the PCB is covered with a thermal shield in order to get a very good temperature on each component.

While such 8GB Radeon R9 290X graphics cards should not be popular with FullHD gamers, those looking to game on higher resolutions such as 4K/UHD, will definitely see some performance improvements, especially in multi-GPU configurations.

MSI decided to keep both the GPU and memory clocks at same factory-overclocked values as on the 4GB model, or precisely, 1'040 MHz (in overclock mode) for the GPU and 5.5GHz for the 8GB of GDDR5 memory

The MSI R9 290X Gaming 8GB also comes with two DVI-D, a HDMI and a DisplayPort display output.

Unfortunately, the price of the MSI Radeon R9 290X 8GB version is still unknown but it should not be long before we see those in retail/e-tail.
