Lian Li unveils the new PC-Q86 case

Mini-ITX case for NAS systems

Taiwanese manufacturer Lian Li has unveiled a new PC case, the PC-Q86, which is mostly designed for those who looking to build a NAS.

Lian Li has once again revealed a fully aluminum case. It is compatible with mini-ITX form factor motherboards and will be particularly useful for those that want to build a DIY NAS.

The PC-Q86 has 395 x 200 x 410 mm dimensions and weighs 4.6 kg. Its front panel includes three 120mm fans and openings that will allow those same fans to cool a large drive cage that can take up to ten 3.5" HDDs. It also has a single 2.5-inch SSD/HDD location placed behind the drive cage. A 120mm fan at the top will take care of the hot air extraction and it will be possible to add another 120mm on the side panel as well as an 80mm fan at the rear. All these sites are equipped with dust filters.

The large drive cage reserved for the HDDs unfortunately means that the graphics card and PSU support will be quite limited and can be up to 190mm long. As for the CPU cooler, it should not be over 150mm tall. The I/O ports on the front panel are composed of two USB 3.0 ports as well as standard audio connectors.

Available in mid-November 2014, the Lian Li PC-Q26 is announced with a MSRP of 149€. Unfortunately, the price will make it unreachable by most users and definitely not for an entry-level NAS case, but Lian Li stuff is never cheap.
