Microsoft officially drops Nokia brand on smartphones

Meet the Microsoft Lumia

Microsoft has now officially confirmed that it has dropped the Nokia brand name as the company announced that any future smartphones will be launched under the Microsoft Lumia brand.

Just under one year since Microsoft has purchased Nokia's mobile business, Microsoft has pushed forward and decided to remove Nokia branding from any future smartphones. The confirmation comes from Nokia France which confirmed that all future smartphone will switch to Microsoft Lumia branding and rest of the countries should follow soon.

Microsoft has previously paid US $7.2 billion for Nokia in April and wants to switch the complete business to Microsoft branding as soon as possible. According to details known so far, Nokia Lumia 730 and Lumia 830, announced back in September, might be the last smartphones with Nokia branding.

Microsoft is betting big on the mobile market and upcoming Windows 10 might push some users in that direction but so far, Windows Phone market was not very popular.
