The VR One headset for all smartphones announced

By Carl Zeiss

The popularity of virtual reality is palpable since the announcement of the Oculus Rift VR. Today, Carl Zeiss has announce a solution that will work independently with a any smartphone, pushing VR a bit closer to general public.

The offer of virtual reality helmets only grows, and with Oculus VR, Sony, Samsung and Google, every company wants to get on board and hop on that VR train and all suggest that their solution will be able to do better than others.

All of the recently announced VR headset solution might have met their match with the VR One from Carl Zeiss. This headset will work with any smartphone device that has a screen between 4.7 and 5.2" (sorry for the owners of the One Plus One). A drawer for every smartphone will slide inside the device.

The One VR is currently available for pre-order and costs US $99.90, the lowest price that we have seen so far for a virtual reality headset (if we forget the Google Cardboard). The first drawer is included in the price and if you want a second one, it will add US $9.90. For now, they only offer drawers for the iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, but it is possible to apply for a smartphone especially directly through their website.

The set is slated for release in 2015, and should give company some time to add more reference drawers to their catalog. This also confirms the fact that 2015 will definitely be the year of virtual reality for the consumer market.
