While AMD plans to launch its new Carrizo APUs in March 2015 in order to replace the current Kaveri APU lineup, it appears that we might see some APUs based on the same design as early as December this year, as Carrizo-L.
While the 28nm Carrizo APUs, which are based on AMD's Excavator CPU architecture, should ship as quad-core parts and are meant to replace Kaveri APUs, the newest report from
Digitimes.com suggest that we might see that same architecture as early as December this year, as Carrizo-L, which is meant to replace some Beema and Mullins SKUs.
The new Carrizo-L should be aimed at entry-level notebooks and be a direct competition to Intel's Celeron and Pentium entry-level CPUs.
The rest of the Beema and Mullins APUs should be replaced by Nolan APU, which is, next to ARM-based Amur,
expected to be AMD's first 20nm APU. AMD's Nolan APU is based on x86 Puma+ architecture and target both the tablet, 2-in-1 and possibly an entry-level notebook market.
