GoPro unveils the new Hero 4

New Black and Silver versions, an entry level model

We have been hearing rumors about it for a few days, but now it is official, as GoPro, the famous company behind the action camera bearing the same name, released the new Hero 4 in Black and Silver versions, as well as a whole new entry level model, which is just called Hero.

As noted, the lineup includes the Black and Silver Hero 4 models as well as a whole new entry level model, simply called the Hero.

Starting from the flagship model, the Hero 4 Black, it has an ability to record at 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, or at 2.7K resolution at 50 frames per second as well as 1080p resolution video at 120 frames per second, in case you are aiming for a high quality slow motion video. Despite what we thought, the Hero Black does not feature a touchscreen display, but only the WiFi module.

The other model, the Hero 4 Silver, is able to record a 1080p resolution video at 60 frames per second or 720p resolution one at 120 frames per second. Even though it is not the flagship model, the Hero 4 Silver features a back touchscreen display and the WiFi module for remote control. Both models are able to take pictures with the 12MPX sensor at 30fps, and they are both waterproof at up to 40 meters, as long as you use the original box.

Last but definitely not the least is the new entry level model, simply called the Hero. It will be available in black color and has an ability to record 30 fps video with a maximum resolution of 1080p, or 60 fps video at 720p resolution. Pictures are shot with a 5-megapixel sensor. It is nice that GoPro realized that the action cam market is growing fast, and they decided to offer an entry level model for a decent price of 125 €.

The other new GoPro Hero 4 models come with a rather steep price though, the Hero 4 Black sells for 480€, while the Hero 4 Silver goes for 400€.
