Chrome OS is slowly getting its share of the entry level laptop market, but it's also available on very small PC. Acer decided to enter this particular market, and they unveiled two new systems: the CXI-2GKM and the CXI-4GKM.
Chromebooks are doing pretty well thanks to Chrome OS, and it's once again the proof that is not so hard to sell if you have cheap but good products on the market. So, why shouldn't we have tiny living rooms systems, to connect to your TV?
The new CXI abides the VESA standard, and they measures 165x130x33mm. Inside there's an Intel Celeron 2957U CPU with HD Graphics, 2GB or 4GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM (whether you chose the 2GKM or the 4GKM model), 16GB SSD and an SD reader, to expand the internal memory of another 32GB.
These little systems can boot in 8 seconds, and they are always connected to Google services thanks to the 802.11abgn WiFi, while you can use Bluetooth 4.0 to connect peripherals. Other than that, we find an Ethernet port, four USB 3.0 and an HDMI output.
It's basically all you could need to surf the web and watch HD movies, but with a very small price. The new CXIs will be available starting from September: 135€ is what you need to get the 2GB RAM model, while for the 4GB model the price goes up to 165€.
