Based on many different studies, it looks like Internet Explorer is the most used browser all over the world. Unfortunately, the used versions are not the most recent, and it looks like Internet Explorer is actually leading the market. Microsoft is working on this issue, to change the situation as soon as possible.
Internet Explorer 8 is the default browser on a grean number of PC system, and it has been for a long time, thanks to Microsoft. It's pretty obvious that creating updates for a lot of different versions of the same browser, on different operative systems, has become more and more difficult.
To solve this problem, the OS giant decided that, starting from 16th January 2016, each version of Windows OS will feature the most recent version of Internet Explorer available. So, we are talking about IE9 for Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2, IE10 for Windows Server 2012, IE11 for Windows 7 SP, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
After that day, the old version won't get any other security update or technical support. This means you'll have to check what version of Internet Explorer you're using, and update it if it's the case, if you don't want to have any security problem. Microsoft's hoping to speed up the pace of the updates release on every OS, because the update process can't be done automatically on every system.
