The XBMC has been one of the best media center software for quite some time, mostly due to dedication to Linux as well as support for many other platforms. In order to start fresh and break away from its Xbox roots, guys behind the XBMC decided to rename it to Kodi Entertainment Center.


Started as a mod for original Xbox, XBMC has developed into a what is most likely one of the best media center software available and in order to break away from its Xbox Media Center (XBMC) name, despite the fact that it no longer is, and in order to put a definite stop to questions about support for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, the guys behind the software has decided to rename it to KODI.

The name was picked out of a bunch of submissions from team members and will hopefully become as famous as the previous one.

From now on, Kodi Entertainment Center will be an important name in the media center software market, so be sure to remember it as the XBMC slowly fades away.
