No new AMD desktop architecture until 2016

AMD Carrizo to be mobile only

According to the latest rumor coming Bitsandchips.it, AMD will stick with FM2+ socket until 2016 and we will not see the support for DDR4 memory on desktop or any post Bulldozer architecture until that same year.

While the report might be true, we must note that it should be taken with a grain of salt since Bitsandchip.it is citing inside sources and 2016 is still far away. According to the report, AMD has practically pushed back its all plans for new desktop architecture until 2016, including new AMD FM3+ socket, DDR4 support and new post-Bulldozer architecture.

While AMD's FM2+ socket and Kaveri based APUs as well as AM3+ will have to hold the desktop market until 2016, mobile market will be a bit different as we have already heard some rumors regarding the Carrizo mobile APU which should be the first 20nm big core chip with possible DDR4 support.

Hopefully, AMD will not face any other delays and we will see a new desktop architecture in due time.
