EK Water Blocks, a well known manufacturer of premium water cooling products coming from Ljubljana, Slovenia, has announced a new full-cover water block aimed to be used with R9 290X graphics cards made by TUL Corporation.
The EK-FC R9-290X SE water block is meant to be used with AMD Radeon R9 290 and R9 290X graphics cards with circuit board design R29FA, which can be found on Power Color, Club 3D and VTX3D graphics cards. The EK-FC R9-290X SE is a full cover water block which means it directly cools the GPU, memory as well as the VRM (voltage regulation module) part which allows it to be stable even under high overclocking scenario. It is also based on a very high flow design so it can be used with liquid cooling systems with weaker and quieter pumps.
The base of the EK-FC R9-290X SE is made of nickel-plated electrolytic copper while the top is made of POM Acetal material. It features screw-in brass standoffs which are pre-installed and also uses 0.6mm wide micro-channel structure which should improve the heat transfer without sacrificing the low hydraulic restriction design.
EKWB noted that up to five of EK-FC R9-290X SE water blocks can be interconnected via EK-FC Terminal and that this water block perfectly aligns with EK-FC R9-290X series water blocks aimed to be used with AMD reference R9 290(X) graphics cards.
According to EKWB, the new EK-FC R9-290X SE will have an optional aesthetic retention backplate and will be available via EK Webshop as well as the EKWB partner reseller network by the end of July.
