According to a fresh report coming from a KGI Securities analyst, Apple might be forced to delay the bigger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to 2015 due to production problems.
To make things even worse for Apple, those production issues will not be exclusive to the rumored 5.5-inch iPhone 6 smartphone but will also have an effect on the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 version as well.
KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, which usually has a good track record relating Apple rumors noted that the production bottlenecks for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in-cell touch panel and metal casing are to blame. The in-cell touch panel has a problem where when it gets larger in size, the edge of the panel might become insensitive to the touch while metal casing has a problem with color unevenness under new manufacturing process.
While these problems could be fixed on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, they also become amplified on the bigger 5.5-inch iPhone 6, which will also might have a problem with the new sapphire display.
All of these issues suggest that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 might not launch this year and if it somehow manage to come, it will be in extremely limited supply.
Kuo also noted that Apple will most likely cut the prices of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C when it launches the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.
