ASUS smartwatch may cost as low as US $99

According to first rumors

The smartwatch market is definitely becoming the next big thing and it does not come as a surprise that most manufacturers wants a piece of that cake but according to recent rumors coming from Techcrunch.com, ASUS apparently wants to launch an affordable device that could cost anywhere between US $99 and US $149.

This move from ASUS, despite whatever hardware is behind it, might make the ASUS smartwatch a bit more affordable compared to devices announced during Google I/O conference last week. In case you missed it, Samsung's Gear Live is the cheapest of the bunch priced at US $199, followed by LG G Watch priced at US $229 and, according to rumors, Motorola's Moto 360 which could be priced at around US $249.

According to a "source familiar with the company's plans", Techcrunch notes that the ASUS smartwatch could feature AMOLED screen and could be announced later this year with launch set for somewhere in September.

Unfortunately, there are no other information regarding the precise specifications but at anywhere between US $99 and US $149, the ASUS smartwatch might be a big hit with consumers, especially if Apple joins the fun and push the smartwatch market to a whole different level.
