After Google I/O 2014, it is obvious that the company wants Android to be a part of just about any platform so it does not come as a surprise that it is bringing Android a bit closer to the Chrome OS and Chromebooks.


According to what Google announced during Google I/O 2014, Android apps will soon be able to run on the Chrome OS with minimal changes by the app developers. The Chrome OS will also be able to receive calls and message notifications and although the Chrome OS can already pull Google Now cards this further integration sounds quite interesting.

The company noted that apps, both tablet and smartphone ones, will be able to run on the Chrome OS without any problems and text input, usually done by the on-screen keyboard, will be replaced by the physical one.

Google was also quite keen to note that Chromebooks are doing quite well as top ten laptops on Amazon are actually Chromebooks. The company also noted that Chromebooks will now have eight manufacturing partners with a total of 15 devices which will be on sale in 28 different countries.
