There have been a lot of rumors regarding Google's Nexus line recently and while Android Silver premium lineup rumor was the dominant one today we have first information regarding what might be the next 8.9-inch Nexus tablet, made by HTC.

Android Police received some details regarding the 8.9-inch HTC Volntis which is belived to be the next Google Nexus tablet. Designed around an 8.9-inch 2048x1440 screen and packing Nvidia's Logan 64-bit Tegra K1 chip with 2GB of RAM, the Volantis might be an impressive tablet. The rest of the specifications include an 8-megapixel rear camera as well as 3-megapixel front one for selfies, front stereo speakers, 16/32GB of storage space, WiFi and LTE options and much more.

The HTC Voltantis is internally referred to as the Nexus 9 so there is a good possibility that Google will show this one during Google I/O. The dimensions of the HTC Voltantis, according to the leak, are set at 226.3x151.9x7.9mm (8.91"x5.98"x0.31") while it weighs 418g for the WiFi-only version and 427g for the 4G LTE one. According to the same source, the Volantis will use a zero-gap aluminum construction which suggest that this one will be a premium device, rather than a slab of plastic.

The premium design might also push the price to a whole different range, at least for Nexus tablets, so the 16GB WiFi-only model could go as high as US $399, the 32GB one might end up at US $499, while LTE versions could go over US $600, which should put it in direct competition with iPad rather than other cheaper tablets.

According to Android Police the leak is legit and apparently came from a good source as the device is already at Google. The picture is not a final design so some things might change.

We are just a few days from the Google I/O which will kick off on June 25th, so we will know for sure.
