Apple is well aware of the fact that their products are not cheap, and a lot of people simply can't afford them. That is probably why they have unveiled a new 21.5” iMac with a cheaper price than usual.

There are four new 21.5” iMac available with the same display, but with starting prices of 1299€ and 1499€.

The new low-cost model features an Intel Core i5 CPU with a base clock of 1.4Ghz, while it gets to 2.7Ghz with Turbo. The graphics card is the Intel HD 5000 integrated in the CPU and it also features 8GB of RAM and a 500GB mechanical hard drive for storage. For comparisons sake, 1299€ will get you a 21.5-inch iMac with Core i5 CPU clocked at 2.7Ghz (3.2Ghz with Turbo), 1TB HDD and Iris Pro graphics card, while the 1499€ model offers you an upgrade to Core i5 CPU, clocked at 2.9Ghz (3.6Ghz with Turbo), 1TB HDD and a GT750M with 1GB of vRAM. The whole lineup features Thunderbolt ports, 4 USB 3.0 and WiFi 802.11ac.

Like with most Apple products, you can choose between a few option before you buy your product and with the new one you can get a 1TB HDD for 50€ more, while a 1TB Fusion (hybrid SSHD by Apple) costs 250€, which is the same price you would have to pay to get a real 256GB SSD, which is a bit crazy given the actual value of that kind of SSD. You can't upgrade the RAM to 16GB on this model, while you can do that on the other two models.
