Cooler Master has unveiled yet another gaming keyboard, using the QuickFire Rapid-i design, but with different mechanical switches. The Novatouch TKL from Cooler Master uses purple Topre switches instead of the usual CherryMX switches.
When it comes to mechanical gaming keyboards, CherryMX switches are the most obvious choice, and they have been for quite a long time now. But they are definitely not the only choice on the market as Topre mechanical switches are really interesting, and might appeal a lot of gamers.
Topre switches mix up different technologies, creating something that could be defined like a middle ground between mechanical and membrane switches. They feel like CherryMX Red switches as they need 45g of pressure, but the release part is softer and they make less noise. Until now, this kind of switches have been spotted only on very expensive keyboards, and we hope the Cooler Master Novatouch TKL will not be one of them.
The keyboards is tenkeyless just like the Rapid-i, and it features Topre switches that have been modified to be used with keycaps designed for CherryMX switches, so that they do not have to redesign keycaps too. Release date and price are still unknown, but we will let you know as soon as we have more information.
