Google has released its latest Android distribution report showing that Android versions 4.3 Jelly Bean and the 4.4 Kitkat have grew significantly during the past month.
Both versions gained some ground on the expense of older versions continuing the recent trend. In April, Android 4.4 KitKat started its hasty rise as some older smartphones finally started to get updated.
According to the latest Google report, Android 4.4 KitKat grew from 8.5 percent up to 13.6 percent while Jelly Bean 4.2 and 4.3 grew from 18.8 to 19.1 percent and up from 8.5 to 10.3 percent, respectively.
The older Android versions have finally started to drop and tablet-designed Android Honeycomb is no longer on the list while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean dropped by 4.5 percent and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich dropped by 1.1 percent. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread which has reigned supreme not long ago has also lost 1.3 percent and currently holds around 14.9 percent of the Android share.
Hopefully, smartphone makers will manage to update those smartphones which have not yet received the update and some older smartphones will eventually fall out of existence.
