During this years fall IDF, which is taking place in San Francisco these days, Intel decided to invite a few partners over, to let them present some of their upcoming products. One of these partners is ASUS and they've been showing the long awaited Rampage IV Black Edition.
ASUS is promising, that the Rampage IV Black Edition is an all new product. This board features an all black color scheme and there have been quite a few things added to the X79 chipset to make the socket LGA2011 a tad be more interesting.
First of all ASUS claims, that this board has been optimized for Ivy Bridge-E processors and other than that there is not the Extreme Engine DIGI+ III VRM design on this board. Looking at the audio solution you'll find ASUS' SupremeFX Formula [2013] extension with WIMA and ELNA capacitors, OpAmps and headphone amplifier, that delivers 120 dB SNR. Furthermore the manufacturer decided to bundle the audio solution with the Sonic Radar software. On the connectivity side, there is WiFi 802.11ac, 12 SATA ports, out of which there are 8 SATA 6 Gbps ports and eight USB 3.0 connectors. A closer look at the I/O panel also reveals a USB BIOS flashback port. Last but ont least, included in the feature catalogue, there is ASUS Secure Erase software, last modified log, quick note and ROG pulse.
ASUS also mentions that they've been evaluating five different topologies, to make sure you get the maximum out of your eight DIMMs.
Unfortunately it's yet unannounce, when this board will make it to market and ASUS also didn't mention a price. So far the only thing they leave us enthusiasts with is a small bunch of pictures.
