Asus officially announces FonePad 7

7-inch tablet with phone capabilities

Although it was already rumored and detailed earlier, Asus has decided, now that IFA 2013 is underway, to officially announce its new FonePad 7, a 7-inch tablet that has phone capabilities.

Based around a 7-inch 1280x800 screen, rather neat design and Intel's Z2560 1.6GHz CPU, the new FonePad 7 has been announced by Asus' Jonney Shih as a phablet, but in reality it is much more a hybrid, or even precisely, a tablet with phone capabilities.

Since it is based on now rather mediocre resolution display and older Intel Z2560 1.6GHz chip paired up with 1GB of RAM, the FonePad 7 will be an entry-level device with a more affordable price. It will be available in 8, 16, and 32GB storage options expandable by a microSD card slot and feature 5-megapixel rear camera, 3950mAh battery for up to 10-hour of life and Android 4.2.2 OS.

Unfortunately, it appears that Asus was not willing to talk about prices for any announced device at IFA 2013 and FonePad 7 is not an exception.
