Buffalo launches new TeraStation 3000 series

New NAS and iSCSI unified storage

Buffalo Technology has announced the availability of the TeraStation 3000 series of high performance NAS and iSCSI unified storage. Aimed at small offices and professional users that require cost-effective network storage that is easily shared and safeguarded with the reliability of RAID data protection, the new TeraStation 3000 series provides dual gigabit Ethernet ports, RAID support, four USB ports (two USB 3.0) as well as bunch of other features.

Based on two four-drive configurations, including 1U rack mount and capacities ranging from 4TB to 16TB, the TeraStation 3000 series will offer high-performance RAID-based network storage. Thanks to a dual-core ARM CPU and 1GB of DDR3 RAM, the new TeraStation 3000 should provide enough performance and efficiency as well as offer complete data protection.

The new TeraStation 3000, alongside the recently launch TeraStation 5000 series, comes as a response from Buffalo to a perpetual growth and evolution of storage and backup needs in the SMB market, according to Matt Dargis, CEO at Buffalo Technology. According to Dargis, the TeraStation 3000 series was designed to deliver simplified management, optimized resource utilization and true disaster recovery protection at entry level price points.

The rest of the feature, in addition to the dual gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB ports, and RAID 0/1/5/6/10/JBOD support, the TeraStation 3000 series also offers disk quota support, hot-swap/hot spare, device failover support and scheduled or real-time share level replication.

The entire TeraStation 3000 series will be backed by a three-year warranty. The two-drive TeraStation 3400 will be available in the US with an MSRP from US $599.99 for the 4TB version up to US $1,599.99 for the 16TB version. The two-drive 1U TeraStation 3400r Rackmount is also available starting at US $1,399.99 for the 4TB and all the way up to $2,399.99 for the 16 TB version.
