Toshiba unveils new Kirabook Ultrabook

13.3-incher with 2560x1440 resolution

Toshiba has announced a new Ultrabook that will be based around a 13.3-inch 2560x1440 screen, Intel's 3rd-generation Core i5 or Core i7 CPU and fits in the premium class despite offering slightly less pixels than similar notebooks from Google or Apple.

The Kirabook will be based on Windows 8 OS and starts at US $1599 which will get you 3rd-gen Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage space. Unlike Apple's Retina Macbook Pro with 2560x1600 and Chromebook Pixel with 2560x1700 resolution screen, Toshiba snagged a few pixels leaving its Kirabook at 2560x1440 resolution but still offers back-lit keyboard on all models.

The other announced US $1999 Kirabook model adds a Core i7 CPU to the spec list and converts that 13.3-inch screen from standard one to touchscreen.

The new Toshiba Kirabook should be up for pre-order on May 3rd and ship out to its eager buyers on May 12th.
