"In a few years we'll be able to get Matrix level virtual reality", that's at least what Oculus is saying these days. If this is just another bold claim to make some more headlines, only time will tell but at least Oculus is displaying their new product at Gamescom these days.
First of all, Palmer Luckey explains the importance of Android:
Citation :
"The reason we chose Android is because, well, what are the other options? There's iOS where you can't plug anything into their systems, and Windows Phone where there's not much out there. We'd love to support it, but there's not much to look into - we know it could work, but the business side isn't there."
Palmer continued, saying that there are also chats with Sony and Microsoft going on. Unfortunately their not yet interested in bringing Oculus to their consoles these days.
Maybe the reason is that Sony and Microsoft are prepping their own VR goggles, similar to the ones Oculus is working on. For the consumer this would be a good thing to hear since, more resources from different manufacturers mean more competition.
So far it looks like there is a bright future lying ahead for VR devices. So there is hope that one day games might become highly realistic.
