Although it should have been launched today and even got some pretty good first-hand impressions from selected members of the press, Nvidia's hand-held console, the Shield, has been delayed to sometimes in July.
Nvidia released a statement saying that during the final QA process, company has discovered a mechanical issue that relates to a third-party component and since they want every Shield to be perfect, they decided to postpone the launch date to July. Nvidia will release the new update as soon they have an exact date.
The good part of the story is that it did receive some great first-hand impressions from selected members of the press as everything they tried worked flawlessly and Tegra 4 was working well with stock Android. The build quality and the feel of Shield is quite impressive and although Nvidia decided to keep all the details under NDA, some sites were allowed to talk about some optimized games as well as AR Drone control for the Shield.
In any case, those that pre-ordered the console will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on one, but we must give credit to Nvidia as it is better to be safe than sorry and it is always better to fix the problem before actually shipping it to customers.
