ECS launches KBN-I Kabini motherboard

Mini-ITX AMD quad-core SoC Kabini motherboard

ECS has unveiled its newest mini-ITX KBN-I motherboard family that features AMD's Kabini SoC. It also comes with Windows 8 WHCK certification and is optimized for home entertainment, general computing productivity and multimedia applications.

The new ECS mini-ITX KBN-I is currently the world's first announced motherboard based on AMD's Kabini SoC with 28nm Jaguar CPU architecture and AMD Radeon HD 8000 series graphics. The KBN-I/5200 will feature an integrated AMD quad-core A6-5200 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8400 GPU and a maximum TPD of 25W. The second SKU, the KBN-I/2100 will feature an integrated AMD dual-core E1-2100 APU and a 9W TDP cooled by a fanless heatsink. The rest of the features include a full electrostatic discharge protection as well as 100% solid capacitors.

Despite its mini-ITX form factor, ECS managed to squeeze in a lot of things including one PCI-Express x16 slot, two SATA 6Gbps connectors, two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports, two mini PCI slots and feature HDMI and D-Sub outputs.

Unfortunately, ECS did not shed any details regarding the actual price or the availability date but we will surely keep an eye out for this one.
