In addition tot he previously revealed MPower and Mpower MAX Z87 motheboards, MSI has now officially unveiled the new flagship member of its new LGA1150 lineup based on the Intel Z87 Express chipset, the Z87 XPower. Based on the XL-ATX form-factor, this motherboards brings you the best MSI has to offer, including high-end components, features and aimed solely at enthusiasts and overclockers.
As noted, the Z87 XPower is based on the 345x264mm XL-ATX form factor and, according to MSI, is ideal for both CPU and VGA overclocking benches due to its 32-phase digital-PWM power supply that draws power from two 8-pin EPS, 24-pin ATX and an optional 6-pin PCI-Express connector. It features four DDR3 DIMM memory slots with support for up to 64GB of DDR3-3000+ memory, has a PLX PEX8747 PCI-Express gen 3.0 bridge chip that provides four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8/x8/x8/x8 or x16/x16) while the second PCI-Express slot is directly wired to the CPU in case you want to bypass the bridge chip.
The rest of the features include six SATA 6Gbps ports from Z87 PCH and four SATA 6GBps from ASMedia controller, a total of eight USB 3.0 ports and bunch of USB 2.0 ports, 7.1-channel HD audio via Realtek ALC1150 chip backed by Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software, 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit Ethernet provided by the Killer E2205 controller. It also comes with two HDMI and a DisplayPort output, as well as bunch of overclocking features including OC Genie, boot to BIOS button, PCIe power boost, voltage measurement points and much more.
Unfortunately, MSI did not announce the precise price for its Z87 Xpower motherboard but we are sure that it will show up in retail/e-tail pretty soon.
