Meanwhile the first - decent - pic of ASUS' upcoming Maximus VI Formula motherboard made it into the internet. Once more we found the pic on Facebook and it looks like a crossbreed between ROG and Sabertooth and we have to say, it looks really nice.
At a first glance one can't see to many details but never the less there are quite a few things visible on the pictures. First of all there are ten angled SATA ports. In this case we assume that six of those then ports are natively wired to the Z87 PCH and offer 6Gbps bandwidth. Regarding the four additional ports, it's very likely, that these are wired to an ASMedia ASM1061 chip and they should also offer 6Gbps bandwidth. Futhermore we can see three full size PCI Express slots. ASUS must either be using an x16/x8/x4 or an x16/x8/x8 setup. Between the first two slots there are two empty slots, which means that SLI/CrossFire setups are able to get plenty of fresh air. A closer look at the bottom right corner maks you see a power and a reset button as well as a debug LED. On the picture you can also read, that the onboard sound should offer 120dB SNR which means that ASUS wants to offer improved onboard sound.
