There is quite something going on at ASUS today, since their also officially announcing their LGA1150 TUF (The Ultimate Force) Series motherboards. This time ASUS decided to expand their TUF line-up, which is why they have the mATX Gryphon next to the Z87-Sabertooth.
From a feature perspective one can see that the Sabertooth is a typical ATX motherboard, whereas the Gryphon makes use of an mATX form factor. Both boards feature an 8 phase power design regarding the CPU. In case of the Gryphon the thermal armor kit is optional but not on the Sabertooth. The thermal armor covers almost the entiere board. There are also lots of dummy-spacers for most of the slots, headers and ports. Furthermore there is an active fan providing additional cooling to the board. Regarding connectivity on the Z87-Sabertooth you can find eight SATA 6 Gbps ports, three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, 8-channel HD audio, gigabit Ethernet as well as eight USB 3.0 ports and HDMI, DisplayPort outputs next to conventional USB 2.0/1.1 headers.
In case of the Gryphon there are two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (x16/NC or x8/x8) slots, one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 port, which as been wired to the PCH using four lanes, six SATA 6 Gbps ports, four USB 3.0 connectors, 8-channel HD audio with an optical SPDIF out, gigabit Ethernet as well as a DVI and an HDMI display out.
