Although it has spent a lot of time talking about its Exynos 5 Octa chip, Samsung has now turned its story around saying that octa-core chips are not that important, at least not yet.
Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa, based on big.LITTLE architecture is actually a "dual quad-core", despite its Octa name since it is based on four Cortex A15 paired up with four Cortex A7 low power cores. In case you did not have a chance to check out Samsung's white-paper, only four are active at the same time meaning that you can have either four A15 for intensive tasks or four A7 ones in idle and low intensive tasks.
Since it was forced to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600 SoC in its Galaxy S4 flagship, Samsung is now saying that the number of cores does not really matter as even with Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, Galaxy S4 works like a charm.
In an interview for CNET, Samsung's head of mobile business, J.K. Shin noted that average consumer simply will not notice any difference as both its Exynos 5 Octa and Qualcomm 600 deliver the same consumer experience.
