Asus announces Xonar U7 USB soundcard

Headphone amplifier as well

Asus has announced a new addition to its Xonar line of sound devices, the Xonar U7 USB external soundcard and headphone amplifier.

Asus Xonar U7 offers powerful and clear 114dB signal to noise ratio (SNR) audio and incorporates a headphone amplifier, Dolby Home Theater v4 support as well as dedicated microphone and volume controls, all via convenient USB interface. According to Asus, Xonar U7 serves the needs of PC gamers who want to enjoy strong and clear sound via headphones and is also ideal for listening to music by providing much more impactful and detailed audio than integrated hardware solutions.

It connects to the PC via USB interface and importantly does not need an additional power source. When compared to the competition, Asus Xonar U7 offers 7.1-channel performance despite its small form factor and produces clear audio driven by the high quality Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC (digital to analog converter). Asus' exclusive Hyper Grounding PCB ensures strong signal insulation and prevents any interference.

Unfortunately, Asus Xonar U7 availability and pricing will vary by market and location so we'll have to wait a bit for those.
