Another set of benchmarks on Intel CPUs has surfaced, this time it looks like the upcoming Intel Core i9-7980XE has been tested. This model features 18 cores and 36 threads, and it’s supposed to be combined with 24.75 MB of L3 cache. The benchmarks have been conducted on an ASUS Apex motherboard with 32GB DDR4-3200 C15 memory.
These new results have been gathered using Cinebench R15, 7-Zip, 3DMark Fire Strike and several other benchmarks. At stock clocks the Intel Core i9-7980XE is faster than any other chip. In other words those new tests confirm previous rumors as well as previous testing, showing that the Core i9-7980XE is definitely a very quick chip.
A closer look at the results gathered with the multi-threaded benchmark routine from Cinebench R15 shows that the system with Ryzen Threadripper 1950X scores 3069 points, the Intel Core i7-6950X scores 1817 points and the Intel Core i9-7980XE scores 4174 Points. Apart from that, running the single-threaded routine the performance level is pretty interesting as well. The Core i9-7980XE result is exactly the same as what a Core i9-7900X or Core i7-7820X processor achieve.
Running the 7-Zip benchmark, the monstrous Core i9-7980XE hits 102'681 points while a Threadripper 1950X scores 71'092 points. The story is similar regarding 3DMark Fire Strike, where the upcoming flagship chip scores 32'201 points, while Threadripper 1950X hits 27'579 points.
According to different e-tailers, the upcoming chip is already available to them to buy and it should hit the streets in late September or early October.
