Current rumor has it that Intel is going to launch their Coffee Lake processors somewhen in October. At this point in time Intel will finally bring their first six core twelve thread processors to the mainstream market. Since chipzilla is rushing these chips to market now the motherboard vendors have to respond coming up with new lineups since these processors will require a new chipset.


What’s particularly questionable/disappointing/infuriating - you name it - is the fact that although Z370 appears to be the same chipset like Z270, Coffee Lake chips won’t work in the 7th generation platform. Coffee Lake and Kaby Lake are actually pin-compatible, meaning both share the same LGA1151 package.
