NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti shows up in 3DMark database

Close to the NVIDIA TITAN X Pascal

NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 Ti has been spotted in the Futuremark's 3DMark database, showcasing performance that is similar to the flagship TITAN X Pascal. According to NVIDIA the card should be faster than a reference TITAN X Pascal and 30% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080. The results posted in the 3DMark Orb have been gathered using the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.

These results are very similar to what we expected when looking at the specifications. Therefore it depends on how high the factory overclockings on upcoming custom GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards will be whether the mighty Titan X Pascal can be beaten or not.

A quick recap on the specs shows that the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is based on the GP102-400A1 Pascal chip, which is the same that can also be found on the NVIDIA TITAN X Pascal. Furthermore there is a 352 bit memory interface in combination with GDDR5X memory. This means there will be 11 memory chips on the card and they will clock at 11 GHz (GDDR5X-effective). The theoretical memory bandwidth is 484 GB/s.

The highest score we can find the the 3DMark Orb so far is 8'194 points (Time Spy). The benchmark has been run using an Intel Core i7-7700K processor at 4.2 GHz and a GTX 1080 Ti with the base clock set to 1'823 MHz and memory set to 1'377 MHz. A similar setup equipped with a NVIDIA TITAN X Pascal with frequencies at 1'772/1'251 MHz core/memory hits 8'241 points.

To gather an even better overview where the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti stands, we recommend you to cross check with our own GPU Charts where you can find several GPUs tested in several different benchmarks and games. According to NVIDIA, the new pixel accelerator will offer around 35% more performance than the GTX 1080 in games. Nevertheless these values have not yet been confirmed.
