Hardware is beautiful - Episode 8 - Intel Core i7-6950X

We guess that you're all pretty much aware of the fact, that we at ocaholic do like high-end hardware - actually who doesn't. That's why we're bringing you this new series of news. This week we've come up with an other sweet combination for you, which includes Intel's newly launched Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X flagship CPU.

Today, Intel has finally lifted the NDA for its new Broadwell-E family of CPUs. Unlike the previous generation, the new family consists of four models, the Core i7-6800K, Core i7-6850K, Core i7-6900K and the Core i7-6950X. The first two models offer six cores and twelve threads with 15MB of cache. In addition to the frequency, which is slightly higher on Core i7-6850K, the two models also differ in the amount of available PCI-Express lanes.

The Core i7-6900K is a processor with eight cores and sixteen threads, 20MB cache and a base frequency of 3.2GHz (3.6GHz Turbo). Like for the Core i7-6850K, this model also features 40 PCI-Express lanes.

The real super-star of the Broadwell-E family is the new Core i7-6950X, a monster CPU with ten cores and twenty threads. This model offers 25MB of cache and a base frequency of 3.0 GHz (Turbo 3.5GHz).

The new "little" monster is already sitting on our test setup for a few days and during next few days you will be able to see our own review and a few tests. In the following pictures you can check out the new CPU sitting on an ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard.
