AMD releases new R3 series Radeon SSDs

Based on TLC NAND and Silicon Motion controller

AMD has released its newest R3 series Radeon branded SSDs which will be a value oriented series offering transfer speed of up to 520/470 MB/s and be available in capacity of up to 960GB.

Designed to be more budget oriented value series, the new AMD Radeon R3 series SSDs are based on Silicon Motion SM2256KX controller paired up with TLC NAND, which is what most popular value-segment SSDs use these days.

As noted, the AMD Radeon R3 SSD series will be available in 120, 240, 480 and 960GB capacities, offering sequential transfer speed of up to 520MB/s for read and 470MB/s for write, depending on the capacity. It will be based on a standard 2.5-inch 7mm form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface.

The lineup is currently only available in the US with a price set at US $40.99 for the 120GB version, US $69.99 for the 240GB model and US $136.99 for the 480GB model. The 960GB version is still not listed but we suspect it should show up soon.

The entire lineup is backed by a 3-year warranty.
