Alleged Geforce GTX 1080 picture shows up

Might be real

As we are drawing closer to the rumored announcement of Nvidia's next-generation Geforce graphics cards, it does not come as a surprise that we will see some leaks and the latest comes from Chinese forums and shows an alleged Geforce GTX 1080 graphics card.

Although the source of the picture is a bit shady and the picture quality is quite low, it appears to show the Geforce GTX 1080 and its angular cooling shroud. There are no further details so it would be wise to take this picture with a grain of salt. The shroud does look like the same one pictured earlier.

In case you missed some rumors earlier, the Geforce GTX 1080, if Nvidia decide to stick to its original naming scheme, should be based on the new 16nm Pascal GP104-200 GPU and will be one of the three graphics cards that Nvidia could announce and launch in June.

Earlier rumors suggested that GP104 GPU packs around 2560 CUDA cores and the high-end GTX 1080 could end up with up to 8GB of GDDR5(X) memory with a 256-bit memory interface. It is still not clear if Nvidia will have the GDDR5X memory ready for launch or if the upcoming series will still stick with GDDR5 memory.

Unfortunately, we still do not have any precise information but hopefully more will surface as we get closer to the rumored June launch date.
